Road to Gallup

Today is a quiet day for me ~ dogs are sitting the shade and I am enjoying a cup of iced coffee. I should be working, but i just feel like sitting back and reading.

Hope you all  have a great day.

Fruit Ice Cubes

I am going to have to try this, although I may have to put some of the fruit in my water bottles and then fill half full and freeze. I am wondering how much flavor you get out of this amount of fruit in your water? I really love the idea of mint – I just may have to get a plant when I go to town today to try this.

These look so refreshing considering how hot it has been recently in Colorado. Please share your favorite fruit recipes. I would love to try some new ones.

Healthy Eating & Weight Loss Update

Some of you already know that we at the Dumdi Ranch have started SlimGenics. We are learning to eat healthier and what type of foods to eat and when we should eat them.

I can tell you that I have never thought about food this much. Food is constantly on my mind these days. And not in a good way. I have told hubby for years that this weight loss thing is a mental and learning how and when to eat the right things, but I didn’t really think that it was this mental for me.

And talk about cravings – No I didn’t always think about chips, pizza, mexican or chinese food, but I think about them now. I sure would love a bag of chips – before our weight loss journey I didn’t eat chips very often, or even think of them.

I am very proud of Mark, John, and myself. John and I have lost a total of 12 pounds each, and Mark has lost close to 30. We will have some challenges next week when we head to Gallup, NM, but I am sure that we will not stray too far. =)

I will keep you updated on our progress. Have a great day!

New Beginnings – what have I seen recently that remind me of new beginnings – lots of things!

Baby lambs, baby calves, tulips, green grass, trees are starting to bud. I love this time of year. You need new beginnings everywhere you look. I love to stop on the side of the road to watch the baby lambs and baby calves play. They have so much fun running around playing. Just like watching kids on the playground, without a care in the world!

Tulips are starting to spring here in Colorado, and the grass is starting to green up. We are getting more rain and snow this week.

Another new beginning for me is that I have space in 2 more antique malls, and things are going great! Love both places, the dealers, and the owners!

To new beginnings!

Have a great week.

Tax Time

I have finally figured out why today is called Tax Time – it because it is taxing getting all the info together to fill in the numbers into the computer. Whew – done – I REALLY need to find an easier way to keep all this info.

I have recently talked to a couple of dealer friends and they are in the same boat. There has to be an easier way to keep all of these numbers together while taking less time.  Paperwork, paperwork – and more paperwork. Maybe I just need another me to keep up with all of the paperwork.

Well I have started a couple of new speadsheets and may have figured out a way to at least take less time entering info into the computer. I am using google docs and have created a form to enter inventory, income and expenses. It seems a lot easier to enter the info into a form instead of the spreadsheet itself. The other advantage I see is that I can enter the info into the pc or on my tablet. So when I am out at an estate sale, I can open the tablet, enter where I am, and how much I spent, along with a description of what I purchased.

This way doesn’t tell me how much I spent for each item, but I at least have a total dollar amount I spent. I then will continue to write my inventory info into my book to keep track of how much I spent on each item, and my research info on the items. I will them be able to enter this info into my inventory form (spreadsheet). Do I need this much info? I don’t know, but I do know how much I spent on each item, and not just an overall total amount made or lost.

Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on how you keep track of all this stuff for “Tax Time”.

Have a great week,

What’s New @ The Speckled Goose

Things have been going well here in Colorado. I have been super busy getting my new space filled inside Homestead Antiques, Arvada, Co. I have a nice size space, and I am loving it! I love walking around checking out everyone’s treasures. Homestead Antiques also has a Great group of dealers – everyone that I have met are super nice.

John has started competing in the Jr.High spring rodeos. Hubby and John. have been gone the last three weekends, and they have a rodeo scheduled every weekend through May, except Mother’s Day weekend.

Spring has come to the ranch – all of our girls (sheep) have had their babies, and everyone is doing well. I have to get pictures, but the weather has been so weird that I haven’t gotten out there yet.

More soon as I have a lot more to share. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Week of 2/24 – 3/2 ~ 2013 Blogging Journal

Well as you can see I have missed a couple of weeks along the line. This weeks topic is reflecting on images that has caught my attention.

I find beauty in color, and lots of it. I recently purchased a large amount of some beautiful blues vintage jewelry. I also can not get enough of some of retro colors, and colors of the 50’s and 60’s. For some reason I can not get enough pinks, and chartreuse greens. I have added these colors to my primitive furniture and the combination is amazing! if I say so myself! =)

I would love to hear about some of the images that has caught your attention.

Have a great week.
